Yang-Hua Hu, a recent member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), was raised in Taiwan and came to the US to pursue a film career. While working on his MFA at USC, he found editing to be one of his favorite roles in the filmmaking process. Initially keen to direct, he ended up as an editor on his thesis project, and it soon developed into a passion. After finishing school, he finally went to the dark side: working in a cutting room. He continues to explore different storytelling styles and editing techniques through his lasting collaborations with editors and directors, constantly striving to grow as a storyteller. He believes that a meaningful story can transcend language and cultural barriers — that a truly compelling film can move hearts and inspire the world to become a better place.
